The Kitty Jersey Top
No kitties were harmed during the process
This kitty jersey top has a cute story behind it.
Going on holiday in France to visit my mom, we got to do fabric shopping in town. Such a hurdle for me to find fabric I will fall in love with at first glance. After several hours wandering in the first shop we went in, I saw a kitty head poping out of the shelf amongst the disorganised fabric rolls.
I knew from the moment I grabbed this jersey fabric what it would become. Funny thing was, it was the last 2m on the roll and this was a discontinued pattern! How lucky was I to find it! The length was also perfect for the sewing top pattern I wanted to make.
This jersey was easy to manipulate. Not too thin and not too heavy with a velvet touch to it, it was a pleasure to sew it! It has such a wonderful drape too. It hangs perfectly well on the low neckline and it is not too heavy to wear neither.
It’s the first time I ever sew and wear such a low / hanging neckline. For sure, it will be a summer feature. I don’t see myself wearing it under so many layers of clothes in winter. This jersey seems breathable too, so definitely in summer time up to warm autumn days.
Sad thing is, well, I don’t have anymore of this fabric and I will probably never be able to sew this cute kitty pattern again. Shame, because I see this being a best-seller on the high street! Ahahah
Was are your thoughts about this top? What would you have seen yourself sewing with this jersey fabric?
